4 door Coronet, 6 Cyl flathead, 230 cubic inch, 103 hp.
Car as found was being used as a dumpster in a junk yard! |
General condition indicated a total frame off rebuild and restoration. |
Getting ready to steam clean a million miles of crud. |
The steam cleaner helped tremendously to help remove the old paint. |
Sand blasting every square inch for repair and repaint. |
Clean metal, fresh paint, will make the inside smell better. |
Seems like a lot of surface area to clean. |
Repairs completed and priming started. |
The bottom should look as good as the top side. |
Pre fitting never hurts before final paint. |
Here's the Security Chief looking for a suitable wheel. |
It had two pistons badly stuck but we're past that now. |
Rebored, pistons and rods matched, and crank ballanced, no less! |
New valves, guides, springs, tappets, the works. |
Now, to see if it all fits together. |
First paint attempt using BASF Glasruit system. |
 Interior dash details. |
BASF didn't work worth a flip with color sanding. |
Entire exterior gets stripped to bare metal. |
One more refit before painting. |
Using PPG single stage Delthane this time |
Painting in sections to eleminate overspray. |
PPG color sands nicely and gives a great gloss. |
The Security Chief finally found a tire, just in time!! |
Fresh headliner with plenty of insulation on top. |
It's starting to look like a real car. |
All traces of old upholstery was removed. |
Metal work was cleaned and repainted, and new burlap socks made for the seat springs. |
Finished seat bottom. Smells good too! |
Fresh paint for fresh upholstery. |
Trying to match original style. |
Add the shinny trim and it's ready to place in the living room. |
I guess I really ought to wash it,,,,, |
